Dear Parents,

Welcome to a wonderful new school year! The first week of school is over, and we all survived the shock of getting back into our school routine. Last week we spent some time learning classroom routines and getting used to our daily schedule.

I would like to thank you for coming to the 3^rd grade Orientation. I enjoyed talking with you and getting to know both you and your child.

In your child’s Monday folder you will find a Scholastic book order. If you choose to order books please send your order to school in an envelope with your child’s name on it. You may send in cash or a check made out to Scholastic. The first book order is due Monday, August 30.

Please look over your child’s work from last week, sign the back of the Monday folder, and return the folder to school tomorrow.

REMINDER: $4.00 is due for The Nutcracker Ballet to reserve our seats.

3rd Grade News

Dear Parents,

Thank you to the parents who drove and chaperoned on our field trip to the McMillen Health Center. The students enjoyed learning about their digestive system and the importance of taking care of their body.

This is the last month for the Book-It Program. Calendars are due this Wednesday, March 31. Students will receive a certificate for reading the required minutes during each month of the program. Students who have read all 6 months will receive an extra prize.

For the month of March, students need to read 2 AR chapter books at their level. The second test needs to be taken by this Wednesday, March 31.

We are having a book report for the month of April. Students need to read an AR chapter book at their reading level and take the AR test on the book. Students will also prepare a story web in the computer lab and make a shoebox diorama at home to summarize their book. Each student will need a shoebox for this report.

3rd Grade News

Dear Parents,

This week begins the 4^th quarter of school. It is hard to believe that we are this far into the school year! Report cards will come home this Wednesday. Please look the report over with your child, sign it, and return the card to school.

We will be taking a field trip this Friday, March 26 to the McMillen Health Center to learn about the digestive system and the importance of taking care of our body. A list of drivers/chaperones is in the Monday folder.

Congratulations to Luke F. and Emmett for placing 2^nd in the Area Lutheran Schools Spelling Contest.

For the month of March, students need to read 2 AR chapter books at their level. The second test needs to be taken by March 31.

Spring is here! Students need to remember that even though the days are getting warmer, they still need a warm jacket for our morning recess.
