heidiMinistry Vision: I want children to see themselves as Jesus' redeemed treasures, and take Jesus with them wherever they go. I want to pass on the wonderful deeds of our Lord and Savior to the next generation, so my students will love and serve Him throughout their whole lives.

Personal life motto: Do all the good I can, for all the people I can, in any way that I can, in any place that I can.

Favorite Bible verse: And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17) My life is a life of faithfulness and praise to the end of my days, whether I find myself standing in the kitchen up to my elbows in dirty dishes, raking fallen leaves, or wherever God leads me, I will give thanks and praise to my God.

Favorite Book: Run Silent, Run Deep by Commander Edward L. Beach, a submariner's account of prowling, stalking, and attacking in the Pacific during WWII. I adore historical fiction! It is a painless way to learn and live history, without leaving your armchair. When you can leave your armchair, travel to battlefields that you read about, touch crumbling walls of a ruin, trek through old cemeteries reading the epitaphs.

Favorite Song: "Abide with Me," reminds me of childhood summers at Camp Arcadia on the western shore of Lake Michigan. Each evening closed in prayer and song as the sun dipped beneath the waters. "Abide with Me" was the last song sung in the deepening twilight before bed.

Who is Heidi Dancy?

  • Somebody whose 6th grade goal was to read all the books in the school library, whose 8th grade goal was to be a missionary in Africa, whose 10th grade goal was to pass algebra again! whose 11th grade goal was to be an FBI agent, whose 12th grade goal was to teach.
  • Somebody who has no qualms about eating a whole bag of chocolate chips—in one day.
  • Somebody who will dress up and use strange accents in the classroom so her students will fall in love with history and books.
