rachelMinistry/Teaching Vision: I believe that teachers are in a partnership with the parents, other teachers, and congregation. Our job is to educate our students academically as well as spiritually so that these children of God will grow in the knowledge of the love of their Creator and appreciate His creation.

Favorite Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. There is a Christian singing group called Sixpence None the Richer and they sang a song called "Trust." I love that song because it is a continual reminder to me that I need to trust God, and if I do, He will lead me in the right direction. About 2 years after I heard the song, I was reading my Bible in Africa during private devotion time and came upon the verse in which the song was based. It was Proverbs 3:5-6, and has been my favorite passage ever since.

Favorite Book: The Carrot Seed and As Time Goes By

  • When I was very young, I absolutely loved The Carrot Seed. It is a very simple book about a boy who plants a carrot seed and it grows. That is the entire concept of the book, but I absolutely loved it growing up.
  • My favorite book as an adult is As Time Goes By. It was written by Lori Wick and takes place in the 1800s. It is about a girl who was picked on so badly that she moves away from home and then returns 10 years later, after she has gone through her awkward stage, to help her uncle with the store. It's about forgiveness and acceptance of oneself.

Favorite Song: You are Holy by Prince of Peace - I am the director of the Emmanuel Praise Team, so part of my job is to search for new songs to learn. As soon as I heard "You Are Holy," I absolutely loved it. It is an excellent reminder of all the things that God has done and all the roles He plays in my life.

Who is Rachel Flippo?

  • I have a wonderful husband, Simon. We were married in June of 2007.
  • We have recently added a Goldendoodle puppy to our family. We named him Tater due to his coloring. He is quite a handful, but an absolute joy.
  • I am the proud aunt of 14 and have a niece or nephew on the way.
  • I have 5 siblings. (3 sisters and 2 brothers)
  • I am originally from Wisconsin. I moved to Ft. Wayne 5 years ago to take a 5th grade teaching position.
  • I'm a huge Packer fan, but I do not like being called a "cheesehead."
  • I love to sew, cross-stitch, and crochet. It seems everyone around me is having a baby, so I've been sewing baby sleeper sacks and other baby items lately.
  • I spent 2 months as a missionary in Malawi, Africa. We built the foundation to an orphanage called "The House of Joel" which now is the home to over 200 children who were orphaned due to AIDS. We lived in tents with no electricity or running water, but I can honestly say that is where I truly felt peace.
